Twitter has been rolling out different methods for searching on their site. 2 weeks ago I had a search field on the top menu bar, this week its now in a permanent spot (i hope) on the right side bar.

Saved Searches on the right side bar in Twitter

How can this help you as a small business?

By searching on your keywords and topics around your products and industry, you can find others with the same interests and engage in conversation with them.

Lead generation using Twitter saved search

Saved search for twitter is a valuable tool for finding new prospects who could end up as a lead and possibly a customer.

If you help them out, maybe they will in turn follow your personal twitter account or your company twitter account.

Once you gain a friend/follower, you can continue to give them the "help" they need through a blog or webinars, classes or other scheduled events.

Customer service using Twitter saved search

By monitoring the stream with keywords or product names, you can listen in on if any customers are experiencing problems that you may be able to help with.

There are many other ways to use this search feature for small business... any ideas you can come up with?
