I took a quick look at using my iPhone with the current version of FCKeditor and this is what I found out.

First of all I want to say that I was dreaming a bit when thinking that this could be a reality. As with some things, I just assume that they should work without thinking about how they actually do work. I tried to use my iPhone 3G to create a blog entry, but failed both times. The latest version of FCKeditor does support Safari, and if you check on your iPhone and go to FCKeditor.net Demo Page you will see that the toolbar does show up!!

Thats when I got excited. In theory this could / might work.

But that small victory was short lived.

A few fundamental features of using a computer and a mouse is not present with a touch screen iPhone.

1. click-n-drag for highlighting text or double clicking the word / sentence

2. drag-n-drop

One of the first issues I found was that you cannot get the cursor to show up in the textarea, another problem was with tables and images and other features that require a dialog window, the dialog windows dont show up.

After that I gave up.

I guess it still is a dream.
