I have been using Twitter.com on Mobile Safari on my iPhone, waiting for a free app that allows everything to a power user. Still waiting, but now trying out Twitterfon.
What does a mobile twitter power-user need?
I am maybe considered a power user, due to the fact that I use
- multiple accounts
- upload images taken from my iPhone
- follow new followers
- search and track keywords
- latest trends
- mark a comment as a favorite
- and link to valuable resources for my followers.
I guess the definition of a mobile twitter power user has to do with what twitter features we need on a mobile phone.
Downtime or travelling? Check and update your twitter accounts.
NetCom (my carrier) just upgraded our data per month to 500MB instead of 100MB, this means that taking the train and using the 3G data network becomes more attractive. So while I am travelling, I just fire up my browser, check email, update and reply on twitter and facebook.
The perfect mobile twitter app
The twitter mobile website is availble through Mobile Safari on iPhone, but lacks a lot of features that the standard site has.
And there are A LOT of iPhone apps for twitter out there already. But what does one need while riding the train and just need to pass the time?
I don't see the need for 100% twitter capabilities for a mobile app. So therefore I don't want to pay just to tweet about where I am, or what I am doing. I do wish that twitterfon could handle multiple accounts, but is it worth paying for an app that offers this?
How desparate are we to tweet from all our accounts? Can't it wait until we get back to the office, or to a desktop/laptop?
Who needs all these features in a mobile phone app? I am pretty happy with Twitterfon.
Conclusion: Twitterfon is free. For what it is, it works great
I do recommend Twitterfon for any users looking to get most of the commonly used features of twitter.
Real Road Warrior Twitter Power Users may have to pay to get all the features they need, but don't miss your stop on the bus or train because you are updating all your accounts and doing complex research on your phone.
