This weekend I downloaded a new app for my iPhone called ShoZu to keep me connected with all my social media and networking sites.

First impressions / installation

Loads up ok. No need to reboot the iPhone as with some apps.

Create an account through the iPhone starts out ok. Ended up just going online to the website to finish the installation of services. Saved myself a ton of time I think.

Connection to the a few services like Twitter, Twitpic, Facebook and Flickr went fairly smoothly.

Facebook requires that you confirm by email given when you create an account.

Tried to upload using Twitpic and it worked.

Updated my Twitter status and that worked as well.

First issue

Opened ShoZu just now and there was a setup problem with facebook and it needed to send me the confirm email again. No idea what that is about.

Leads me to think about the security of all the new apps and identity theft that happens.

Facebook

I don't think this will replace my Facebook app for iPhone, VERY limited in features. Status updates, read you feeds, and upload photos are about all you can do. I might take out the Facebook service and use this for Twitter, Flickr and Twitpic only.

Twitter

Twitter is a much simpler application, therefore this could work well as your main twitter app. Upate status, check your and your friends timelines and check your @replies.

ShoZu is now following me on Twitter, hey thanks guys.

Flickr and Twitpic

These two are pretty much upload photos and thats it, so this may work out ok.

Conclusion?

The app works as it says, and helps to keep you connected to you social networks while on the go. Can't say its perfect, but since its free I think I will keep in on my list of apps that I use and recommend.
