Blogging, Search Engine Optimization, and using Social Networks to promote your business can be compared with being a fisherman or a trapper. You set the bait, and everyday need to go out and check your traps.

Check your traps – first thing in the morning

8:30am – 9:30am (or whenever you get in, and use about 1 hour and not all day)

  • Check the blogs, forums, and social networks for response to your content, but also if there is anything for inspiration for “new bait”
  • Read, Comment and Answer anywhere you can
  • Dont forget to check your own blog, facebook business page, and twitter company profile
  • Add new friends and start some conversations

Set your traps

10:00am – 11:00am (use about 30min – 1hr and not all day)

  • Write and publish your new blog article
  • Promote your article on all social networks (facebook, twitter, etc)
  • Come up with ideas for your next webinar, whitepaper or other content

Monitor throughout the day

Use RSS technology to monitor the content, sharing, and discussions around your topics.

By doing searches on Twitter Search, Google Alerts and digg.com, you can find out

what content is being written, shared and discussed online.

Check your traps – before heading home

3:30am – 4:30am (again, use about 1 hour and not all day)

  • Check the blogs, forums, and social networks for response to your content
  • Read, Comment and Answer anywhere you can
  • Dont forget to check your own blog, facebook business page, and twitter company profile
  • If you find something on another site about your company/products, create some links to it on your blog, facebook or twitter
  • Promote this “friendly” content by everyone in the company.
