My co-worker Jorunn bought a new MacBook for at home and with it she bought a memory upgrade to 4GB. I was asked to upack the box and install the new memory. It is clear that I need one of these.

Photo gallery - try not to drool.

(the quality is not all that good - pictures takes with my iPhone 3G)

The top of the box has a pillow/cushion to keep the finish nice.

The MacBook, sorry about the bad quality

The bottom of the MacBook so access the memory compartment.

First open the latch to the bottom door.

Here's the hard disc to the left, and the battery to the right... Awesome that the hard drive is easy to access.

The battery is easily removed using the same latch, but where is the memory (RAM) ?

8 screws later, reveals the memory under the top cover. Not too bad. Its not like you need to change out the memory so often. And the cover was fairly easy to remove, not like when I took apart my MacBook Pro. :(

Another close up from the open cover.

Here I took out the 2 - 1GB modules. The plastic clips that hold them in still work fine :)

Here my pal Øyvind is adding the 2 - 2GB modules to make it a 4GB machine. Nice!

We both agreed, Øyvind and I, that we need to get one of these machines. Maybe I will wait until Snow Leopard comes out and pick one up.

Thanks for checking out the story... Friday project on a Thursday.

Time to play some Rugby! Have a good weekend!
