I have borrowed a Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000), which I will be using for testing apps. My first challenge, how can I copy over a .apk file to the Tab and install it?
What do I have here?
Samsung Galaxy Tab (model GT-P1000)
Android version 2.3.3 (GINGERBREAD.XWJP9)
MacBook Pro (2007)
Mac OS X 10.6.8
1. Applications > Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources
Allow installation of non-Market applications.
This must be checked to install the .apk
2. Applications > Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging
USB debugging is intended for development but can also be used to copy data between your computer and your device, install applications, and read log data.
This must be enabled to use the USB Mass Storage mode.
3. Connect the device to your computer with the USB cable
4. USB Mass Storage mode
Drag the Notification window down from the top, and select USB connected.
Select the button "Turn on USB storage" if you want to copy files between your computer and your Android USB storage.
